Milk Allergies and Sleep When it doesn't do a body good!
Milk for babies is generally a good thing...except when they are allergic!
Being allergic to milk myself as a baby, my mom has told countless horror stories of how much I screamed, driving them crazy and driving away more than one babysitter. It was a while before this milk allergy was diagnosed and my mom says if it could have happened earlier it would have saved alot of stress and sleep.
After looking at a number of websites, this one seems to offer a pretty comprehensive look at milk allergies.
"Almost all infants experience irritability and sleeplessness at times. But if your bottle-fed baby seems excessively fussy much of the time, it could be due to an allergy to cow's milk.
Most of us have heard of lactose intolerance (the inability to digest the type of sugar in milk), but there's another milk-related problem that's lesser known: cow's milk protein allergy. Between 1% and 7.5% of infants are allergic to the proteins found in cow's milk and cow's milk-based formulas. About 80% of formulas on the market are cow's milk-based. About 30% to 40% of infants who are allergic to cow's milk are also allergic to the protein in soy formulas. The baby's immune system "attacks" the proteins in the milk, resulting in symptoms of an allergic reaction."
If you think your baby might have allergies, consult your doctor for more information.

Another Baby is Counting our Sleepy Sheepy!
"I can't believe how much our daughter likes your little sheep applique! When I bought it I just thought it looked cute, but my daughter loves the little tag legs. She holds onto the little legs while she is falling asleep. One of the funny things we have noticed is that during the day when she isn't wearing her sleep sack, if she is feeling upset, she puts her hands to her chest where the sheep is when she is in her sleep sack. It's great how quickly she became attached to it because it sure makes getting her to bed easier!" -Jen, Squamish, BC Visit our Sleepy Sheepy! |

Sleep Tip
"One of the things we did was I wore a big t-shirt for the day which I then slipped over the crib mattress. That way our baby was comforted by my scent at bedtime." -Denise, Saskatoon, SK
